NOTE: WE WILL ONLY BE HIRING (1 PERSON), EITHER FOR MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I OR TECHNICIAN II BASED ON SKILLS. PLEASE ONLY APPLY FOR ONE OR THE OTHER.Serve as Facilities Technician I; responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on City equipment and property.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: This is not an attempt to list all work operations of this job position. Duties generally include, but are not limited to the following: 1. Perform light building maintenance and minor repairs, including carpentry, patching and painting walls, replacing ceiling tiles and lightbulbs, unclogging drains, assembling and repairing furniture and other similar duties.2. Monitors general condition of buildings, facilities and equipment and notifies Supervisor of items needing repair or replacement.3. Performs general duties such as snow removal and ice reduction, shoveling, salting at City facilities.4. Assists with janitorial services and election equipment distribution and set-up as needed. 5. May assist in performing preventative and routine maintenance of equipment and property, such as, but not limited to, HVAC equipment, pumps, filtration equipment, light electrical. Makes minor repairs and/or takes corrective action as necessary.POSITION EXPECTATIONS/REQUIREMENTS: 1. Abide by Federal, State and Local laws pertaining to the maintenance and upkeep of City-owned facilities, i.e., logbooks, daily/weekly/monthly/annual tasks, licensure postings, refrigerant laws, etc.2. Ability to perform emergency repairs to equipment and buildings with minimal direct supervision in a safe and efficient manner.3. Ability to properly and safely operate: Hand and power tools, analytical equipment, painting equipment, refrigerant equipment, sewer cleaning equipment and snow removal equipment.4. Knowledge of emergency procedures, i.e., evacuation procedures and responses to various emergencies.5. Knowledge of City properties and the maintenance needs of each.6. Ability to respond to emergency calls within 45 minutes.7. Must wear safety equipment when required and follow established safety practices and procedures.8. Must be able to work scheduled hours, overtime, weekends, holidays, and callouts as needed.9. Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.10. Creates a favorable image of the City in contacts with the Public, Elected Officials and other Organizations.11. Must exercise initiative, discretion and independent use of judgment over matters of non-significance.12. Keeps Supervisor informed of any development, which he/she will need to know to function effectively.13. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent and/or as assigned. by the Supervisor or upper management. RESPONSIBILITY FOR WORK OF OTHERS: Supervises: None.
